Somebody built it well, twenty years ago. They understood why the renewal rule has an exception, why the conversion routine was never run on dormant records, why the override has no expiry. Then they moved on, and most of that understanding went with them.
It isn't only an old-software problem. A system documented last year holds decisions nobody wrote down, and a model asked to change it will fill those gaps with something plausible. We started EltegraAI because that's a knowledge problem before it's a code problem, and we thought it was a solvable one.
I started Eltegra because I believe enterprise software development needs to fundamentally change. AI can generate code, but it can’t understand the enterprise. We’re building technology that can understand that complexity and autonomously engineer what comes next.

Knowledge, not retrieval — and not only from code
We reconstruct a dependency-linked graph of what a system actually does: from source, documentation, tickets, meeting transcripts, and structured conversations with the people who still hold the knowledge. Code tells you what a rule does. It never tells you why it exists, and the why is what breaks when you rebuild.
Verified first, not reviewed after
Asked to check their own work, models miss a meaningful share of the behaviour changes they introduce. We verify the reconstruction and lock it as the baseline before generation, so correctness never depends on the generator grading itself. You correct the specification while it's still a specification, rather than after it has become code.

It contains ordinary autonomous development rather than replacing it. Code generation is the core, and everything around it — the verified knowledge underneath, the checking at every step, the evidence trail that comes out the other side — is what makes the core safe to hand over.
